Like many other individuals who are determined to lose weight, Ang combines diet with some form of physical activity. In her case, going on the
Weight Watchers Points plan and doing exercise at the same time is bringing in the desired results. Here, Ang also shares some of the motivations
that keep her going.
-What finally made you decide to start with a weight loss program?
I have no idea what finally made me realise I needed to do something with my weight. I had just ended things with my boyfriend, and it was like a
huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, things just had a flow on effect from there.
-What type of weight loss program are you following?
I am doing the Weight Watchers Points plan. Along with this I have joined a gym.
-Why did you choose this weight loss program?
I enjoyed reading a few weight loss blogs last year, and they all seemed to be doing Weight Watchers. It was just a natural choice for me.
-How long have you been on your weight loss program?
I joined Weight Watchers in January this year, and I joined the gym a while later in March.
-What kinds of physical activities do you like doing to help you lose weight and stay fit?
I love going for big walks around a local lake. I go to the gym every night and I recently started jogging in the mornings again. I like to get a
minimum of one hour exercise a day.
-What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome or are still overcoming?
Winter! It is a hard time to lose weight for me. I think I’m a real snacker and cold, wet, winter days just lead me into temptation. Bring on the
warmer weather.
I think there are lots of issues I still have to overcome. But it's an ongoing process for me, one which I’m not willing to give up at.
-How do you keep yourself motivated?
Sometimes I do random things, like try on my old clothes as a reminder of how far I’ve come. I also did my measurements for the start of my
journey and I enjoy occasionally redoing them and checking the progress.
I found it really important to set myself mini goals and deadlines to help me have something to strive for.
My boyfriend is another huge motivation for me. He returns from overseas soon, after 6 months away and I really want him to be able to see some
changes in me.
-Do you have any weight loss tips for our readers?
Learn to love exercise; it will become your friend if you let it!
I started off slowly with walking 3–4 times a week. Now I’m an absolute exercise junky (I like to get in at least two forms of exercise a day).
The best thing I ever did was buy myself some nice ‘gym gear’ at the start of my journey, because it made me feel good when I stepped out to
pound the pavement.
I also highly recommend drinking LOTS of water! It really does help; get into the habit of taking a drink bottle with you everywhere.
-Do you think it will be easy to fall back into your old lifestyle pattern? How do you prevent this from happening?
I have this horrid fear that I will slip back into my old ways. I think that I am so much happier and healthier now that there is no way I can
let that happen. I think keeping a real check on where my weight is at. Before I started Weight Watchers, I had no idea how much I weighed. Now I
am conscious of those numbers, and I’m sure I’ll notice if they ever start to creep up.
-Do you have a favorite Web site or blog that helps or inspires you to lose weight?
I found blogging helped keep me honest as well as offering a fantastic support network. My blog is Angsjourney, and I have a few very cool blogs on my links list.
